Dear reader, you knew this was coming, didn't you?
Tell me about your art.
I've been thinking on the matter for several days now. I have such strong feelings about creativity ~ how I believe it is inherently manifest in everyone, how satisfying it is to access, how soothing and healing and guiding the creative process can be.
So I think it's interesting I stuttered a bit in my response to this question the other day.
Now I am wondering what your response would be.
Would you stutter? Would you hesitate to take yourself seriously?
Does the word art make you nervous, as if you walked into a members only club without carrying the proper card?
Would you make the woeful error of insisting you're not the creative type?
Sometimes it helps to think of creativity in terms of making something exist that wasn't there before.
Making something exist that wasn't there before? Oh, yeah. Everyone does that.
So tell me about it. Where is your creative energy going these days? Even if you don't leave a comment, perhaps take a moment to assemble an answer for your own reference. It feels good to articulate yourself on this topic, I'm telling you.
I mean, let's not take ourselves too seriously, darling. A little stuttering is just fine. But let's not be dismissive, either.
What are you making exist that wasn't there before? What are you learning, growing, building, drawing, baking, writing, playing, raising, singing, healing, spinning, arranging, saying, negotiating, performing, fixing, shaping, stitching, designing, teaching, mending, weaving, engineering, preserving, knitting, generating, drafting, assembling, forging, cooking, molding, composing?
Tell me about your art.

p.s. I just wanted to pop in and say the comments on this post are especially thought provoking and wonderful. They resonate with me each in a different way and I wanted to recommend them if you have an extra moment to read on...
