Dear reader, I know I announced a blogging break recently, but I am stopping in to share something which I would rather not mention in passing down the road.
My poor little Charles did not make it through the weekend. He got stuck in a mismolt during the night and when I found him the next morning, he was beyond my help. The loss is compounded by the fact it was completely unnecessary, that it could have been avoided had I made sure he was secured on a better perch.
At any rate, I just wanted to say he was the perfect little thing, this tiny zen dragon who filled me with wonder and calmed me by his mere presence. In him I saw the majesty of creation, the balance of instinct, a curiously fascinating spark.
I realize I am talking about an insect here, but he had that effect on me and more. I will miss him and, in a way, cherish the fact I miss him, very much.
