We took a trip to the mountains of southern Utah to mark the changing of the seasons. I love the power of color, how this deepening shade of yellow draws me in and fills me with a settled happiness, a quiet, inner peace.
This is my favorite time of year (it really is, except there are other favorites, as well). It brings me back to memories of childhood, it synchronizes my beating heart, and even though I know change is around the corner, this moment seems still and unconcerned, round and ripe, revelling in a lazy, lingering beauty which belies the notion anything could ever be different from what it presently is.
The sun feels higher in the sky, but it doesn't seem to be concerned about anything in particular. Why should you? There's no need to hurry. Just close your eyes and absorb all this glorious yellow.
We went for bike rides, we went exploring, we cooked over the fire, we had friends join us for dinner.
And at night the moon was so full it seemed to spill out of the sky and into my dreams...
