Dear reader, let me just say this: you know you've been reading too much Tollipop lately if your first thought upon seeing this drawing is, I can't believe she didn't paint the dress blue!
What can I tell you? I actually adore pink. And when you pair such a lovely dress with black tights and fantastic red shoes, then I am completely smitten.
Did you happen to come across Hester's Mom Story on Bloesem Kids? Because she is the inspiration for this drawing and the depiction of her life is one I carry around in my dreams: a tall, narrow house in the middle of a European city, lots of neighborhood cafes, vacations to Scandinavian islands...
Reading her story made me feel as if I was watching my imagination come alive.
On another note, I've decided to add a new blog to my reading list: tous les jours dimanche, which I believe translates to every day is Sunday.
Why am I adding a French blog? Because I love languages, dear reader. With an aching, longing passion. There is something about words, about communication that compels and fascinates me. How I would love to be multilingual! My most realistic hope at the moment, however, is French and reading this blog aloud to myself every day seems an ambitious way to improve my skills.
From what I have gathered, it features a beautiful family living the simple life in the countryside of France. Again, straight from the archives of my imagination.
I also wanted to thank you for your comments on yesterday's post. They meant so much to me I hardly know what to say. Sometimes I feel I write my scattered thoughts out on Tollipop, and then you come along and show me how much sense they make after all. Your words were so kind and, unexpectedly, healing. They made me look back on the experience with new eyes, with greater appreciation. Thank you for that, dear reader. How I hope something wonderful happens to you in return.
Eventually I will be adding these wee originals (and prints, too, if I can get my printer to comprehend the right shade of pink) to my Etsy shop. I know I've mentioned this before. I honestly intend to do it.
Also, I will leave the Tollipop anniversary giveaway open through the weekend and announce the winner on Monday. In case there was any confusion, my intention is to send both originals to a single winner. I don't really want to split them up, you see. I think they will be much happier with the tea party for two option.
